Writing the Estimate

The skill of writing estimates requires understanding what items to include and the step-by-step process to collect and record required information. You will be instructed on the first information-gathering steps to take and the vehicle walk-around, with safety precautions explained for electric vehicles. Your understanding will be extended to the included and not-included operations of the chosen estimating system, as well as considerations for repair or replacement. How you will complete an estimate with material charges, sublet, and mechanical repairs is covered, along with other final steps such as hazardous waste disposal.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

·      Recall how to perform a preliminary inspection.

·      Recall repair vs. replace considerations.

·      Identify labor and material additions to the estimate.

·      Recall how to review the completed estimate.
