Working Safely Around Hazardous Materials is a one-hour and fifteen-minute course that discusses the ways workers may be exposed to hazardous materials and their effects on the body. Students will learn hazardous material exposure situations and hazardous material categories. Personal protection, including protective clothing, eye protection, hearing protection, and respiratory protection recommended for use around hazardous materials is also identified.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

• Identify the ways you may be exposed to hazardous materials and their effects on the body.
• Determine hazardous material exposure situations and hazardous material categories.
• Identify personal protective equipment that guards against hazardous materials.
• Understand how to choose and use the proper respirator protection and particulate filters.
• Understand the regulatory information provided by OSHA and NIOSH.
